The benefits of prayer cannot be numbered. There is no value significant enough that can be placed on the vital importance of prayer. However, the result of prayer always leads to greater confidence in God. It leads to a strengthened relationship with Christ. All of which results in our complete trust and dependence on Him. It’s why Paul was able to pen the words “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13 NLT)

How necessary is it for us to have complete confidence in God? The simple answer: our lives depend on it. When Kind David was under attached from Absalom, he faced the issue without fear. Absalom was not only determined to overthrown David as king, but he also wanted to kill him. Yet David, because of his relationship with God, trusted God to be his defense and was therefore able to say, with a doubt: “[God] alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.” (Psalm 62:6 NLT)

Declaring our trust in God, openly and convincingly, during life’s most trying times comes as a result of our relationship and confidence in God. There can be no doubt present within us that God cannot deliver us from our fears. (Psalm 34:4)

During our most difficult and threatening moments, our peace lies within our complete dependence on and confidence in God, and God alone.
